About Tania Pemar

A life between places, expressed through color
I grew up in Spain, surrounded by the warmth, light, and colors of the Mediterranean. Those early impressions—the changing blues of the sea, sun-washed landscapes, natural textures, and the effortless relationship between indoor and outdoor life—have stayed with me and continue to find their way into my work.
Today, I live and create in the United States, but my paintings are shaped by a life lived between places.
Travel has always been an important source of inspiration for me. I am fascinated by the way a place can remain with us long after we leave it—not necessarily as a precise image, but as a feeling. A particular combination of colors. The movement of water. The texture of stone. An unexpected landscape. The quality of light.
Painting is my way of translating those impressions into something tangible.
My process is intuitive and layered. I begin with color, movement, and a general sense of where I want the painting to go, but I leave room for the unexpected. Layers are added, covered, revealed, and transformed. Marks appear and disappear. Colors interact in ways I could not completely plan.
I love that balance between intention and spontaneity.
Rather than recreating a landscape or a memory literally, I am interested in capturing what it felt like—and allowing the viewer to find something personal within the painting as well.
Art made to be lived with
I believe original art changes a space in a way that very few objects can.
A painting can bring energy to a room, create a sense of calm, introduce an unexpected color, or become the piece around which an entire interior comes together. But beyond design, I believe the most meaningful artwork creates an emotional connection.
It becomes part of the life that happens around it.
That idea is important to me when I create. Whether a painting eventually hangs in a quiet corner of a home, becomes the focal point of a living space, or is selected by an interior designer for a client's project, I want the work to feel distinctive while still leaving room for the collector's own experience and interpretation.
Each original is created individually in my studio and carries the marks, layers, imperfections, and decisions that happened during its creation. No two can ever be exactly the same.
That individuality is part of what I love most about original art.

Over the years, my paintings have found their way into private homes and thoughtfully designed spaces, and I have had the opportunity to work directly with collectors and interior designers to create pieces for specific environments.
I also accept a limited number of commissions for collectors and designers looking for an original painting created with a particular space in mind. These collaborations consider scale, palette, and environment while preserving the freedom and spontaneity that define my work.
For me, one of the most rewarding parts of being an artist is knowing that a painting that began quietly in my studio can eventually become part of someone else's home, memories, and everyday life.
I hope you find a piece here that speaks to you.
